How to Make Whiskey Pork Chops

If you are tired of having to make the same pork chops, enhance it with some whiskey to create a flavorsome ending to your day.

Preparing the Pork Chops

  1. Pat the pork chops dry. Absorb any moisture with paper towels.
  2. Cut off any excess fat. Use a sharp knife to trim off fat that is on the sides or on the pork chops itself.
  3. Flour your cutting board. Sprinkle a generous amount of flour on the board and coat your meat with it. Season with salt and pepper, for taste.
  4. Preheat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the vegetable oil to the skillet.
  5. Brown the pork chops. Sear them for a few minutes and then repeat on the other side.
  6. Drain the oil. Remove the pork chops from the heat and drain the oil appropriately.

Cooking the Pork Chops

  1. Make the mushroom sauce. Add the other ingredients (except for the sour cream) in a medium bowl.
  2. Cook the pork chops with the mushroom sauce. Cover the meat with the sauce, and allow everything to simmer for 50 minutes, covered.
  3. Add the sour cream to the mixture. Simmer for a few minutes and serve.

Makes 4 servings.
  • 2 center-cut pork chops
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup sour cream
