How to Make a Healthy Bacon Egg & Cheese Sandwich in the Microwave

The ideal breakfast sandwich for a college student! You will need eggs, wheat bread, turkey bacon (microwaveable), low fat cheese of your choice, a small bowl, and access to a microwave. 

Steps

  1. First you will want to separate the egg yolk from the egg white. To do so you will want to crack the egg and tilt the yolk from one side of the cracked shell to the other while holding it over a small bowl and allowing the egg white to fall into the bowl. Dispose of the yolk. Repeat this step so you have two egg whites.
  2. To cook the egg whites you will leave them in the small bowl and place it in the microwave. Microwave on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute and 30 seconds depending on how you like your eggs cooked.
  3. When the egg appears to be done you can put some of the low fat cheese on top and microwave for 10 additional seconds.
  4. Place a paper towel down on a plate. Put 4 strips of the turkey bacon on top of the paper towel and cover with another paper towel.
  5. Put the turkey bacon in the microwave. Microwave for 4 to 5 minutes. Check the crispness of the turkey bacon and make sure it is how you like it. If it is not crispy enough you can continue to microwave for 30 second increments until it is done to your satisfaction.
  6. Get out two pieces of the wheat bread and put them onto a plate.
  7. Put the egg with the cheese on it onto one side of the bread. and put the bacon on top. Place the other side of bread over the bacon.
  8. Your healthy microwaveable version of a bacon egg and cheese sandwich is now ready to eat! Enjoy!

  • 2 egg whites
  • Low fat cheese
  • Turkey bacon
  • 2 slices of wheat bread (preferable)
