How to Make Lavender Tea

Lavender; a pale violet flower known well for its wonderful stress reducing properties. Have one of these plants lounging around in your garden? Try brewing yourself a steamy cup of pure relaxation.

Honey and lavender tea

  1. In a medium sized teapot, bring the water to a boil and remove from the heat. Set aside.
  2. Using a tea ball or sachet, fill with the lavender and secure the lid or sachet opening well.
  3. Steep the lavender in the teapot for 10 minutes.
  4. Serve among tea cups and enjoy.

Just lavender tea

  1. Place the lavender buds into the teacup or mug.
  2. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the lavender buds.
  3. Place a saucer or small plate over the cup or mug to keep the steam inside. Let the flavors infuse for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the "lid". Enjoy your lavender brew.

Lavender and chamomile tea

  1. Place the lavender buds and chamomile buds into a tea strainer or tea ball.
  2. Place into the cup or mug. Pour hot water over the tea strainer to fill the mug or cup.
  3. Let steep for 10 minutes. Enjoy a refreshing and calming drink.

Lavender and peach iced tea

  1. Pour the lavender tea into a jug or pitcher. Add the lavender buds.
  2. Place in the refrigerator to chill. Leave there for 30 to 40 minutes.
  3. Strain out the buds.
  4. Place the sugar and sugar syrup into a heavy-based saucepan. Bring to the boil while stirring.
  5. Remove from the heat. Allow to cool.
  6. Pour into the jug or pitcher holding the chilled lavender tea.
  7. Cut up the peaches into slices. Add to the jug or pitcher.
  8. Return to the refrigerator. Let chill for a minimum of 3 hours, covered.
  9. Serve cold. Add ice cubes for hot weather.


Honey lavender tea :
  • 2 tbsp fresh lavender florets, chopped
  • 8 cups cold water
  • Honey (if preferred sweet tea )
Just lavender tea :
  • 4 teaspoons fresh lavender buds or 1 tablespoon dried
  • Water
Lavender and chamomile tea :
  • 1 teaspoon lavender buds
  • 1 teaspoon chamomile buds
  • 8 ounces hot water
Lavender and peach iced tea :
  • 1 liter (0.3 US gal) water
  • 3 cups lavender tea and 1 large tablespoon of dried lavender buds
  • 5 white peaches
  • 50 g sugar
  • 70g sugar syrup


  • If lavender flowers are out of your reach, you may substitute for a few drops of pure lavender oil.
  • Lavender flowers are completely safe and edible.
  • Grow your own lavender to make the tea whenever you want to.
