Ever wonder how you can be the best person you can possibly be? Follow these simple steps to aid you in becoming who you want to be.

Knowing Yourself

  1. Develop knowledge of yourself. First you must know what your best self looks like and what qualities that person has. It can be useful to take note of the best version of yourself and then compare it to the worst version of yourself. What are the qualities of both?
    • Keep a journal of your thoughts and feelings, to determine what you think and feel through the days and what patterns you can discern.
  2. Figure out what you want from life. Write it down, and every day make a small step towards that goal. Rome wasn't built in a day. Don't stress about time. You have your entire life.
    • Ask yourself: What inspires me? What makes me want to leap out of bed in the morning?
  3. Accept yourself. You are who you are and while you can always work on making improvements to the aspects of yourself you consider could be better, remember that you are already an amazing person. Acceptance of yourself as a whole package is a major part in having the strength to work on self-improvement rather than self-deprecation. It is only when you accept yourself that you can have a healthy perspective on what improvements are realistic and true to who you are.

Getting Help from Others

  1. Ask people you trust (family, friends) for constructive criticism on different parts of your life. They will most likely be honest with you and can help you to become a better person.
  2. Find a role model. Someone you admire, or wish you were more like. it could be a neighbor who always has a smile, or a celebrity who really accomplished their dreams. See what makes that person so great and try to do what they do.
  3. Understand the role of power in this world. Authority will always try to control others but that doesn't mean that you should bow down to it. Instead, know the rules and how to work with and around them, not against them. Know how to point out the rules that support what you need so that people can't fool you or talk you down.
  4. Make friends. Don't just let yourself off on your own! Make sure you try to meet as many people as you can. Talk to them as well. Start conversations. This is a fantastic way to live your life to the fullest. Friends will be there for you to catch your falls!

Being Your Very Best

  1. Look in the mirror every morning and say; "Today, I will be the best I can be." Yes, it sounds corny, but it really helps building confidence and reminding yourself that you have self worth and that you are responsible for nurturing that.
    • What you say to yourself matters the most in life, as you can be your own best friend or worst enemy.
  2. Be confident. No one ever got anywhere amazing by playing it safe. Take risks. Sometimes you fail, but it's worth it to gain learning experience. And sometimes, you just might win.
  3. Remember that you are a winner. The fact you are here is amazing in itself and you've already won the grandest prize of life and consciousness. Be aware of your strengths and hold yourself tall and proudly.
    • Choose to be a success, regardless of the persons who try to drag you down. Show them the example of what it is to be your best self by not stooping to their level but just getting on with your life and goals.
  4. Eat healthily. This is an important step in living life to the best. Not just eating healthy, but go to the gym and train daily, or even just go for a jog around the yard. This will keep you in shape and you will feel extremely energetic and ready to do anything!
    • Avoid foods, drinks and drugs that cause you to feel sub-optimal and unhealthy.
  5. Decide what your talents are and never stop working on them. Improvement only comes through practice and attention to detail, plus a willingness to learn from constructive feedback.
  6. Be yourself in style, in personality and in opinions. Make the most of being in the skin you're in and using the brain you've been granted with.
  7. Try out new things. Don't be afraid to try something else out. Join a group or club - sign up for the choir, join a dance troupe, start sports training - whatever is to your liking! You can meet many new people, and you may even find a hidden talent of yours!
  8. Smile often (when it is appropriate to do so). This will help you to automatically transform into a more positive frame of mind. It can inspire you and those around you feel happier. Offering a welcome smile will also help people to feel more comfortable about approaching you.
    • Don't grin inanely all the time, it gives the impression that you're a bit vacant and don't know what time of day it is.
  9. Be fun to be around. Start a club, go bowling with friends, whatever you want to do.
  10. Help others. Do deeds not just for your friends, but also donate to charities. Do a door knock for a good cause, put old clothes and toys in the charity bins they have around. A visit to a hospital or a retirement home to make someones day. Wrap an extra Christmas present and put it under a charity tree (they have these at most shopping centers and big stores). After all, they want to live a great life too.
  11. Treat yourself. After a days work, give yourself a treat. This will help drive yourself to be the best.

  • Be unique - that is what you need to do!
  • Don't forget to give yourself some time off! Just maybe a week at home where you can relax!
  • Enjoy your experience - you only live life once.
  • Take a break every now and again - go on a vacation!
  • Throw a get together! Celebrate being together!
  • Love the skin you're in - if you don't like your big ears - just think, there would never have been a YOU if it weren't for them!
  • Keep your home a clean environment - help save the planet as well!
  • Keep yourself organized - have a diary with you at all times or keep a calendar stuck on your wall.
  • Be friendly! Make sure you let your friends know you'll be there for them as well.
