How to Get Healthy Scene Hair

If you are a 'scene kid' or 'scene queen' you hair is probably on it's way to damage with all the dying, bleaching, straightening and teasing. In this article, you will learn how to keep your hair healthy, or as healthy as it can be while having scene hair.

Steps

  1. See what you do to your hair everyday. Do you tease and straighten it? Well if you are serious about having healthy hair then maybe cut some of it out. Learn to love your natural hair or keep your natural hair some days.
  2. The number one rule for healthy hair is in your diet. Lots of water and a diet rich in fruit, veg, fish and nuts will make your hair gleam. You won't get glossy tresses if you live on junk food. An unbalanced diet could lead to problems of hair like dryness, brittleness, dandruff and ultimately hair loss. Protein is necessary for strong healthy hair as hair is made up of keratin which is a protein. So, include for non-vegetarians - lean meat, fish egg and for vegetarians - paneer, yogurt, dals, peas, beans and nuts. Also eat salmon. Make sure you eat right by including the following in your diet:
    • Vitamin B - Green vegetables, beans, sunflower seeds, nuts and peas.
    • Vitamin C - Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, melons and berries.
    • Vitamin E - Avocados, rice bran, nuts, dark green vegetables, legumes and whole grains.
    • Vitamin A - Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, broccoli, cantaloupe and apricots.
    • Vitamin K - Seafood, dairy, figs, asparagus, broccoli, lettuce, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, dark green leafy vegetables, oatmeal, soybeans, wheat, yogurt, egg yolks and liver.
  3. Moisturize your hair and/ or deep condition your hair at least once a week. To deep condition your hair, you just wash your hair and put some deep conditioner or leave in conditioner in your hair. Then put a shower cap on before you to go to sleep. There are deep conditioners that you don't need to sleep on, Like Aussie 3 minute miracle. But for better results wear to sleep. Leave some spray on conditioner when you go out or even when you're at home. Put some Jojoba oil or coconut oil in your hair at least twice a week.
  4. Protect your hair Always use a heat protectant spray when you are heat styling your hair. ALWAYS. Swimming pools can ruin hair. The chlorine in a pool is a strong bleach. It will discolor hair and leave it with an unattractive tinge. Protect your hair before going in by applying a deep conditioner. Immediately after, rinse your hair in apple cider vinegar, then with club soda. The carbonation will lift excess salt and chlorine out.
  5. Find a good shampoo and conditioner.
  6. Trim your hair The longer you wait, the more you have to cut. If you have scene hair, It's most likely going to be damaged. So there are going to be split ends. Also bleaching, and dying and teasing will cause split ends definitely. Trim them at least once a month.
  7. Blast Off Switch to an ionic dryer. These require less heat, limiting hair damage, so your locks will be left looking shinier and healthier.
  8. If you are a bleached platinum blonde you probably bleach your roots every month. Always make sure to NEVER GO OVER THE HAIR THAT IS ALREADY BLEACHED. It will cause breakage. Only bleach your dark roots.
  9. If you want crazy colors in your hair get it professionally done. If you bleach your hair a crazy color it will probably turn out uneven which would make you bleach it more, which is of course damaging.

Tips

  • Don't comb hair with a small toothed brush. When combing through wet hair, use a wide tooth comb. Never use a brush, and never use a comb where the teeth are close together. Wet hair is extremely sensitive and prone to breakage, so spray a leave on conditioner before you comb.
  • Do not vigorously towel dry your hair.
  • If you have tangles, use a wide tooth comb not a small tooth comb.
  • Don't wear your hair up and tight for too long. Wearing your hair up restricts the blood flow to your scalp, and will affect hair growth and health. It make also cause breakage, as the hair is being pulled from the scalp.
  • Do not brush your hair when it is wet. Your hair is weakest when it is wet, when you brush it, it stretches and breaks.
  • Short scene hair is healthier, so consider that. If you really want long scene hair, extensions work too, there are clip ins from hot topic and real ones.
  • Making a towel turban is very damaging. Wrapping your wet hair in a towel on the top of your head damages the wet tresses. Never twist your hair in a towel to dry it. instead, gently pat hair dry, and if you must wrap it, wrap it below the neck. If available, use an old towel tee shirt instead of a towel.
  • Never put your hair in any kind of style that will put undue stress on the individual hairs.
  • Lessen the friction on your hair whenever possible. Don't sleep with your hair loose or if you must, use a satin pillowcase.

Warnings

  • If you tease, straighten, bleach, and dye your hair a lot, may be damaged. This article is to help lessen the chance of that damage. You will not have perfect, shiny hair if you heat style and tease your hair every day. And since your hair is going to be damaged trim it!
  • You can't repair damage, deep conditioner just makes it strong enough so your new hair can grow out and you can cut off the damage.
