Organza is a gauzy fabric with highlights that catch the light, making it a dainty and pretty choice for gift giving. Candy (lolly, sweet) bags made from organza are ideal for dinner party table treats, fairy parties, holidays season events and more.

  1. Assemble the items needed. These are listed below under "Things You'll Need".
  2. Place the right sides of the fabric together.
  3. Allow for a 1.5 centimeter (0.6 in) seam. Sew along one 13 centimeter (5.1 in) edge and two 14.5 centimeter (5.7 in) edges.
  4. Turn the right side out. You should have a bag shape.
  5. Create a hem at the top. Simply fold down and stitch a 1.5 centimeter (0.6 in) double hem at the open end.
  6. Punch an eyelet at two evenly spaced intervals in the open end.
  7. Thread the ribbon, raffia, twine or cord through the eyelets. Tie knots at each end to prevent the cord from wriggling out again.
  8. Fill with candies. Tie into a neat bow and the bag is ready for a treat or gift.

  • Instead of adding eyelets, simply tie the cord, twine, ribbon or raffia around after filling with candies, then tie in a firm bow.
  • For adding eyelets, follow the instructions accompanying the punch.

  • If adding eyelets, be careful to punch the hole cleanly, otherwise the fabric may tear.
