This is a different type of case for iPods. While these steps apply to an iPod Classic 4th Generation, they can be altered for any iPod.

Steps

  1. Measure the width, height and depth of your iPod. Lay the iPod on a piece of paper and measure it's dimensions and mark the measurements.
    • Mark the depth of the bottom of the ipod http://pad2.whstatic.com/images/thumb/0/08/Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet1-Version-3.jpg/550px-Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet1-Version-3.jpg http://pad3.whstatic.com/images/thumb/0/08/Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet1-Version-3.jpg/300px-Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet1-Version-3.jpg /0/01/Make a Duct Tape iPod Pouch (Nano Second Generation) Step 1Bullet1.360p.mp4

    • Wrap the paper around the iPod and mark the width http://pad3.whstatic.com/images/thumb/8/86/Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet4-Version-3.jpg/550px-Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet4-Version-3.jpg http://pad2.whstatic.com/images/thumb/8/86/Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet4-Version-3.jpg/300px-Make-a-Duct-Tape-iPod-Pouch-%28Nano-Second-Generation%29-Step-1Bullet4-Version-3.jpg /0/00/Make a Duct Tape iPod Pouch (Nano Second Generation) Step 1Bullet4.360p.mp4
  2. Cut the paper to the outermost measurements to fit the iPod.
  3. Put the iPod face down on the cut out paper and wrap it up. Fold the top and bottom to measure the flaps. Wrap it like you are gift wrapping the iPod.
  4. Turn over the wrapped iPod and trace the wheel and display. Then cut both of them out carefully with scissors or razor knife. Now you have your template.
  5. Lay the template flat. Cut several pieces of duct tape and lay them onto the template starting from the bottom. Cover the entire front side of the template with 1 layer of duct tape.
  6. Turn the template over to the backside and repeat step 5 on the backside.
  7. Carefully cut out the holes for the display and wheel. Then trim the edges to fit the size of the template.
  8. Lay the iPod face down on the template and match up the cutout holes for the display and wheel. Wrap the duct tape covered template around the iPod and secure with another piece of duct tape on the back.
  9. Carefully cut out the holes in the top and bottom flaps for the earphone plug and the power plug then secure both sides with duct tape.
  10. Now you have a finished case for your iPod.

Tips

  • Use different colors of duct tape, and color on it with permanent marker to make it unique.
  • Use a ruler to make straight lines with a knife or razor blade.
  • Use a hole punch for the headphone jack.
  • An iPod Nano is smaller than the width of duct tape, but it still works to use the width of the duct tape.

Warnings

  • Make sure there are no glue sides left exposed.
  • Be careful not to cut yourself with the knife. Supervise any children making this pouch.
  • Be careful not to cut all the way through your case with the razor knife.
