How to Make Radish Juice

If you're trying to consume more vegetables or just love the taste of radishes, make your own radish juice. You can quickly make a fruity radish juice that balances the spicy radishes. Use carrots, apple, celery, citrus, and spice to round out the radish flavor. Run the produce through a juicer and enjoy! If you don't have a juicer, you can simply chop up the radishes and blend them with a little water. Strain the radish puree through cheesecloth and enjoy the refreshing radish juice.

Making Fruity Radish Juice in a Juicer

  1. Wash and prepare the fruit. Wash 1 large apple, 1 orange, and 1 lemon. Use a sharp knife to carefully cut the apple into four wedges and remove the core. Peel the lemon and the orange and cut them to fit the opening of your juicer.
    • You can use your favorite variety of apple. Try to choose one that's sweet instead of tart to balance out the flavor of the radishes. For example, use fuji, gala, or jonagold.
  2. Wash and trim the vegetables. Wash 3 medium carrots, 6 radishes, and 2 stalks of celery with the leaves. Trim off and discard the tops from the carrots and the leaves from the radishes.
  3. Peel the fresh spices. Get out two fresh pieces of ginger and turmeric. Cut each piece to 1/2-inch (12 mm) and use a vegetable peeler or paring knife to peel the ginger and turmeric.
    • If you don't have fresh spices, you can whisk 1/2 tablespoon (2 g) of dried ginger and 1/2 tablespoon (2 g) of turmeric into the juice before you drink it. The flavor just might not be as intense.
  4. Feed all of the ingredients through the juicer. Set a bowl or glass below the spout of the juicer to catch the fruity radish juice. Drop each piece of fruit, vegetable, and spice into the juicer. If your juicer has a slow speed, use it when you add the citrus. Your juicer should come with an attachment that you'll need to push down to force the rest of the produce through the machine.
    • Ensure that the glass or bowl doesn't overfill. If the produce is very hydrated, you might need to fill an extra glass.
  5. Clean the juicer. Rinse the juicer with warm water once you've finished using it. You can use mild soapy water to rinse out any stains. If you have a centrifugal juicer, scrub the filter with a stiff bristled brush to remove any pulp.
  6. Serve the fruity radish juice. Remove the glass of juice from under the juicer and pour it into a serving pitcher. Making Strained Fruity Radish Juice

Arrange the two pieces of cheesecloth on top of each other. Fold the stack in half and place the four-layered cheesecloth directly into the bowl or measuring cup.
  7. Pour and squeeze the blended produce. Pour the blended produce directly in the center of the cheesecloth. Gather each corner of the cheesecloth and bring it together so you can hold the cheesecloth with one hand. Use your other hand to twist the cheesecloth. The juice should squeeze right into the bowl underneath the cheesecloth.
  8. Serve the fruity radish juice. Stir the juice and place ice cubes in your serving glass. Carefully pour the juice over the ice and drink the juice immediately. You can divide this amount into two servings, if you like.
    • You can store the fruity radish juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one day.

Strained Radish Juice Without a Juicer

  1. Wash and chop the radishes. Get out a few bunches of fresh radishes. Wash and gently scrub the radishes under clean water. Use a sharp knife to carefully chop the radishes into halves or quarters if they're large. You should get about 2 cups (230 g) of chopped radishes.
    • If the radishes still have their leaves and they aren't limp, consider tossing them into the blender with the radishes. They'll add calcium, riboflavin, and carotene to your juice.
  2. Place the radishes and water in a blender. Transfer the cut radishes to a high-powered blender or food processor. Pour about 1/4 cup (60 ml) of water into the blender and put the lid on the machine.
    • The water will help the blender begin to process the radishes. You may need to add more water if the radishes don't contain very much moisture.
  3. Blend the radishes. Turn the blender on and blitz the radishes until they're completely smooth and have liquefied. This could take a minute or two depending on how strong your blender is.
    • If your blender is having trouble processing the radishes, you may need to add more liquid. Add another 1/4 cup (60 ml) of water to help the blender grab onto the radishes.
  4. Set up cheesecloth over a bowl. Place a bowl or measuring jug on your work surface. Get out two 24-inch (61-cm) long pieces of cheesecloth and unfold them. Lay the two pieces on top of each other and fold the stack in half. Set the four-layered cheesecloth directly into the bowl or measuring cup.
  5. Pour and squeeze the blended radishes. Pour the blended radishes right onto the middle of the cheesecloth. Pick up each corner of the cheesecloth and gather it together so you can hold the cheesecloth with one hand. Use your other hand to twist the cheesecloth so the juice squeezes out and into the bowl.
  6. Serve the radish juice. You should be able to squeeze out about 1 cup (240 ml) of radish juice. To get the most nutrients and best texture, drink or use the radish juice immediately. You can store strained radish juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one day.
    • You can discard the radish pulp that's inside the cheesecloth.

Making Basic Radish Juice in a Juicer

  1. Choose the radishes. Buy radishes that are bright and feel heavy since they'll produce more juice. Older radishes will be spicier, so select fresh radishes and use them right after you buy them.
  2. Wash the radishes. Rinse the radishes under cool water and ensure that there isn't any dirt on the leaves. You can choose to leave the leaves on the radishes or trim them off. Radish leaves can add nutrients to your juice but if you don't want to darken the color of the juice or you don't like the flavor, trim them off.
