Diamonds are the only way to craft the best weapons and equipment in Minecraft PE, and they're also one of the hardest things to find. Diamonds are incredibly rare, and require dedication and patience to find. To maximize your chances of mining diamonds in Minecraft PE, See Step 1 below

Preparing to Mine

  1. Craft an Iron Pickaxe or better so you can receive diamonds when you mine Diamond ore. In order to create an Iron Pickaxe, you will need 3 Iron Ingots and 2 Sticks.
  2. Gather some food. Diamonds are found in the lowest levels of the game, so the journey will be a long one. You'll want to ensure that you have enough provisions to able to stay and mine for a good amount of time.
  3. Bring some weapons. You'll be down in the deepest reaches of the Minecraft world, so you're sure to come across some nasty foes. Make sure you have some good armor and a trusty sword before heading out.

Finding Diamonds

  1. Dig straight down until you hit bedrock. This is the lowest you can go in the world, and will help you know how deep you are when you're mining. Diamond ore is typically found in layers 1-15, with the highest concentration around layer 8.
  2. Start your mine. Once you hit bedrock, go back up until you're around level 8 and start your mine. Dig a central room about 2 blocks tall, 4 blocks long, and 4 blocks high.
    • Some players like to start the mine around layer 11. This will result in a slightly smaller chance of finding diamonds, but you are less likely to tunnel directly into a lava pit this way.
    • It is recommended that you create a chest in the central room of your mine so that you have a place to store excess ore as you build the mine.
  3. Branch out. Dig a corridor 2 blocks high and at least 50 blocks long in each direction. These will be your starting branches. Walk down one of your corridors and start mining to the left and right every six blocks. This will maximize your efficiency the amount of blocks you can see as you mine.
  4. Keep digging. Diamonds are extremely rare, especially in Minecraft PE, and occur in less than 1% of the blocks in the lower levels. Finding diamonds is more of a game of luck than anything else, and patience is the most important thing to have when mining for them.

  • Bring lots of torches as you can be down there mining for a while.
  • Make sure you bring extra stone, wood, or dirt, so if you fall in a cave and you find rare ores like lapis lazuli, redstone, or diamonds you can make a bridge across lava.
  • Always bring some torches. You'll need it because it's dark down there.
  • Before breaking the diamonds dig around first because there might be lava underneath.
  • You might wanna bring a furnace,a bed,and a crafting table. You might be stuck in a mine for days.
  • Keep some wooden planks with you to craft sticks and a ladder which will help you to craft weapons and get out easily.
  • Never dig straight down, you could mine into lava.
  • If you don't have iron, bring a bunch of stone pickaxes and find iron when you are underground.
  • Be careful and mindful of water and sand, as you can get crushed or drown.
  • If monsters and other foes are out of control, then bring the difficulty level to lowest so they do not interrupt you in your work.
  • Try finding pre-made holes. This will make it easier.
  • Continuously digging down could result in you hitting water or lava. If you are creative mode, digging too far down could result in you destroying the bedrock layer and falling out of the world.
  • Search in caves and dig around the lowest levels, near redstone or lapis.
