Younger girls in junior high, even in elementary school are being pressured to wear makeup so they can feel pretty. However, this isn't necessary, especially at a young age. If you are a preteen or teen in grades 6th-8th, this article is for you. Here is a simple way to a 5 minute, natural, school friendly look that is not only great for all ages but appropriate for any occasion. Remember that no matter how old you are, you are gorgeous with or without makeup. Real beauty starts within your heart, having a lot to do with your attitude and confidence. If you are not respecting others and yourself, then not even all the makeup that MAC makes, can change that.

  1. Eyes. Start off your morning like you normally do. After eating breakfast, showering, brushing your teeth, and getting clothed, apply a small amount of a shimmery vanilla or peach eyeshadow on your eyelid and the inner corner of your eye. If you want, you may also use your favorite blush. Blend well with your fingers or with an eyeshadow brush. This look is eyeliner free, since eyeliner tends to look harsh on girls between the ages of 11-13.
  2. Mascara. To prevent your eyelashes from looking clumpy after applying mascara, use an eyeshadow brush or your finger, close one eye and apply a small amount of powder (eyeshadow or blush) on your top eyelashes. Apply 2 coats of a lengthening, volumizing, or curling mascara.
  3. Cheeks. Take your blush brush and apply a peach colored blush in a circular motion across the apples of your cheeks to your temples. Always start with a small amount to prevent from putting on too much. That way, you can always add more if you need to. If you feel that you have used to much blush, wash it off and start over.
  4. Brush Your Hair.
  5. And Lastly, The Lips. After you have finished brushing your hair, put on a sheer pink lip gloss or chapstick.
  6. Take your makeup bag and put your lip gloss in it for touch ups, along with anything else you want. (Optional:Blotting papers, Hair Elastics, hair brush, deodorant, mascara, lip balm etc.)
  7. Head out the door! Don't forget your homework!
  8. Finished.

  • Light eye shadow in the inner corner of your eye really brightens up your eye.
  • Don't go overboard on the blush.
  • Invest in an eyelash curler. It doesn't have to be name brand; drugstore brands work great as well. Curlers make a big difference if your eyelashes are straight.

  • Don't pinch your eyelid when you curl your eyelashes. To avoid this don't curl them extremely close to the root, but mid way through.
  • If you want to heat up your lash curler with a hairdryer be careful not to burn the sensitive skin on your eyelid.
