This wikiHow will teach you how to delete GarageBand on macOS, iPhone, and iPad running iOS 10 and up to save space.

Using macOS

  1. Drag the Garageband app to Trash. Just like any other uninstallation process, you need to drag the app icon to the trash. For more information on uninstalling apps in Mac, refer to How to Uninstall Programs on Mac Computers.
    • In this step, you've uninstalled the main application, but you should continue to delete the information that's associated with GarageBand.
  2. Navigate to the Library folder in Finder. You can enter "~/Library" in the Finder's search bar.
    • By default, Finder is constantly running in the background. You can either press Cmd + Tab to find and activate your Finder application or you can double-click the Finder icon in your Dock.
  3. Delete the files inside the folders including: Application Script, Caches, Container, and Preferences. You'll see these folders in the panel to the right of the Library folder.
    • Press Cmd + A to select all the files inside the folder, then right-click your selection and select Move to Trash. Repeat this process for all the folders listed.
  4. Empty the Trash by clicking File and Empty Trash. All the files from GarageBand that you've deleted will be permanently removed from your computer.

Using iPhone or iPad

  1. Find the GarageBand app icon. This app icon looks like a silhouette of a guitar on an orange and yellow background that you'll find on one of your Home screens.
    • If you're using iOS 10 or later, you'll be able to uninstall this default app; however, if you're using iOS 9 or earlier, you will not be able to uninstall this app.
  2. Tap and hold the app icon. A menu should drop down.
  3. Tap Delete App and Delete. If you're using an older iOS version, you'll need to tap x when the app begins jiggling, then confirm it by tapping Delete.
