Ever chased leaves all over the place while trying to put them into a yard bag? Ever had to chase that bag when the fall wind catches it? Here's your answer!

Steps

  1. Fill the bag with air and hold it with both hands BEHIND your legs. It will look silly.
  2. Walk up to the pile of leaves and stand with both feet on the edge of the pile, facing the pile.
  3. Step on the inside lip of the bag with one foot. The bag will be trailing out behind you.
  4. Step on the inside lip of the bag with the other foot, about 12" (.3meters) apart. Lift up on the top edge of the bag so it opens it up.
  5. Use your other hand to stuff leaves from the pile into the bag, between your legs. It will look kind of like a dog digging a hole.
  6. Use a rake to bring more leaves to you if you run out. Best to keep that rake beside you as you work.
  7. Tie the bag.
  8. Use a product called the Magic Ring. Insert the Ring into the Paper Yard Waste Bag. Lay the bag down and simply rake leaves into the bag.(**No need to bring out the old Twister moves). It really is that easy.

Tips

  • Rake the leaves into high piles, that way you will have more leaves right there and won't have to rake as many to you as you stand in that position.
  • Offer bagged leaves to your neighbors who are gardening. (They're the ones without many trees.)
  • Use your mower first to mulch the leaves into small pieces, you will get 4 times as much in each bag and the wind won't blow them around as much.
  • An easier method is to make your bag after you put the leaves on it. Just stretch a sheet out on the lawn, and rake the leaves onto the sheet. Tie the sheet up (in effect creating the bag), and carry your leaves to your compost pile (or wherever else you want them) and dump them out.
