A UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) reveals the enemy's locations on the minimap, and can be used by getting a 3 killstreak (assuming you have it as a selected killstreak reward). Destroying the opposing team's UAV is a fairly easy way for both new and experienced players to help their team win.

Steps

  1. Get the right tool for the job. The AT4, Stinger, and Javelin are all launchers that can lock on to and destroy vehicles.
  2. Know when to look for a UAV. Wait until you hear a message along the lines of "Enemy UAV spotted!"
  3. Look for the enemy UAV. Go to a safe area where you can see most of the sky. Assuming the enemy has a UAV in the air, look up at around 45 degree angle you should see a small black or white drone. This should be the enemy's UAV.
  4. Lock on. Equip your launcher if you haven't already. Look down the sight at the UAV. You will hear a steady beeping noise. When the steady beep changes to a constant tone, it means that you are locked on and ready to fire.
  5. Fire. If you locked on correctly, the missile should home in towards the UAV and destroy it. Well done.
  6. In addition, most primary weapons, especially light machines guns and assault rifles, can also take out UAVs. This works best with the perk Stopping Power Pro

Tips

  • This method also works on other air vehicles, such as helicopters, but some require more than one shot to bring down.

Warnings

  • When you try to take out harriers, sometimes the missile might miss completely, this is a glitch, (I think). So it may take 2 or sometimes 3 missiles to take it out.
  • You are vulnerable while aiming, so make sure you have a safe place. It simply isn't worth the risk of trying to shoot one down in the middle of a firefight.
  • Some times when trying to take out a UAV or other Air support, It may fly away as you shoot meaning that you have lost a missile and not got a kill with it.
