The Ace Combat series are excellent games but take some skill to get good at them.

Select the best plane for the mission. Pay attention to the mission details. The last thing you want to do is go into an Air to Air mission with an A-10
If you are allowed to select your special weapons, take the mission details into account. Keep in mind you can't select SP weapons in Ace Combat 5.
If you're playing Ace Combat 5 Or Ace Combat Zero use wing man commands to help you accomplish your objectives.
Try to unlock the best planes as quick as you can.
Have fun.
Sometimes there will be a mission that will require air to air and air to ground. If that's the case then choose a multi roll like the F-15E or in Ace Combat Zero the AFDX Morgan(ballistic missile).
In Acecombat 5/Zero if your wingmen ask you a question it could change the next mission so chose wisely.

Tips

Never ignore missile warnings to get a kill.
The best way to get kills is figure out your style, and then use it. Remember that the slower you fly, the greater amount of maneuverability you will have. Some people like to fly fast and other people like to take it nice and slow.
Instead of using easy, try to learn to fly with the normal controls. It takes a little longer to get used to, but once you learn them you have a greater maneuverability. This is great for dodging missiles and chasing other planes too.

Ace Combat games are highly addictive and can keep you coming back.
If on Ace difficulty setting watch out for missiles because if one hits you your dead.
Try not to make overly tight loops when fighting a group of enemy aces, or you'll be hit by a missile.
