How to Do a Slick Bun
Doing a slick bun is usually needed for drill and dance team hairstyles. Once you get the right tools, you will be able to create a beautiful slick bun.
Steps
-
Spray your hair using the spray bottle to get your hair damp.
-
Pull your hair back using the bristle brush. Form it into a ponytail right on the crown of your head.
-
Smooth the disarrayed hair. Once you have tied your ponytail with a hair elastic (or 2 or 3), use your comb and a small amount of gel to straighten and fix any messy or bumpy parts.
-
Put a small amount of gel into your hand. Then use it to cover your ponytail so it will be easier to form it into a bun shape.
-
Make the bun.
- If your hair is thick, split your ponytail in two, then wrap the first strand in a bun shape. Wrap the second strand in the opposite way you did the first strand.
- If you have thin hair, you don't have to split it into two sections. Simply make the bun.
-
Wrap your hair net around the bun. Tie in place with hair elastics or pin in place with bobby pins. Or you can do both!
-
Add more gel to your hair or spray with hairspray. This will ensure your bun won't fall out.
-
Enjoy your new do!
Tips
- Make sure that your hair isn't soaking or lightly misted, it should be wet, but not overly wet.
- The height of the ponytail can depend for each team. Whether it's a low ponytail, or a high one, the same steps follow.
- Use bobby pins to pin stray hairs into place if needed. The more, the better.
- Use as much gel as you want. As a general rule of thumb, when you think you have enough, you don't!
- Continue to add more hairspray and gel throughout the day, to make sure your bun stays intact.
- After your hair is done, when washing it out, put conditioner on it first to help remove the gel or hairspray.
