Have you ever been to a friend's party and admire how they have the house all to themselves? But unfortunately your parents are always home? Well, given these steps, tips, and warnings, you'll find out just how easy it is to have a party without your parents' knowledge. Remember, it doesn't always have to be like in the movies.

Steps

  1. Find out when your parents are going out. But don't make it too obvious, or they'll be suspicious.
  2. Plan ahead. If you're looking for a long-term party (e.g. weekend "banger", or longer), wait until your family goes on vacation.
  3. If you are usually going on vacation with your family, think of a good excuse to stay home. Tell them you want to work more to save up money for a car or, if you're going off to college, just say that you're trying to hang out with your friends one last time before you never see them again.
  4. Remember, for a long-term party, or "banger", again, plan ahead, but instead of a couple of hours warning for a short-term party, make it at least a week since you know your parents will be gone at least a couple of days.
  5. Go by the old saying "If you supply the alcohol, you supply the transportation". Make it a BYOB (Bring your own beer) party unless you feel like driving everyone home.
  6. Clean up beforehand, make room for people to sit, and be sure to organize places for activities (e.g. a table for some Beirut, flip-cup, card games, etc.).
  7. Have plenty of food (including junk food, after all it's a 'party').
  8. Make sure you have music, no matter what, no one wants to just sit around and drink.
  9. A TV is also handy, just in case the music isn't working.
  10. Have fun and enjoy! After all it is your party.
  11. Keep in mind, this is a preferable party, just because you don't have to worry about parents coming home. A three, four, five day or longer vacation is the ideal situation for a party.
  12. Follow every other step for a short-term party, except the drinking can be a little less strict as you can have your friends sleep over.
  13. Just remember that you have to clean up before your parents get home, so put all breakable things away until after the banger has concluded.
  14. Again, have fun, make memories, just don't do anything too stupid, like getting yourself killed.
  15. Make sure you have a table of some sort for people to play beer pong. It's never a party without it!

Tips

  • Don't invite anyone that's just going to be annoying (e.x.: Someone who has one drink and acts like an idiot, invite someone with tolerance)
  • If you're going to smoke, remember to do it outside, or if you're going to do it inside, shut off the smoke detectors.
  • If possible, look at your parent or guardian's itinerary in their email or anywhere they keep their documents to find out exactly when they come back. That way, you don't have to ask them when they're coming back which will seem suspicious. It will also make the party easier to plan if you know exactly what time they come back.
  • If your parents call about early arrival, make sure you have ample time to clean up the party mess.

Warnings

  • Make sure your family is going to be out, no one likes to plan a party and know that it can't go down because someone got sick and a family trip was cancelled.
  • Don't drink and drive, if you can't give someone a ride home, let them sleepover, or if it's a short-term party, find someone else to drive them home.
  • Underage drinking is illegal and we assume no liability.
  • If under 18, there is a very high probability that your parents could drag you on the vacation, thus completely ruining the party you planned.
  • Be sure you know exactly how long the family will be out; if they arrive home before the party ends, then you will be in a lot of trouble.
  • Don't be too loud or the neighbors will call the cops.
  • Make sure that you pick up all of the party cups around the house. If your parents come home and find even one left behind, it will be a dead giveaway that you had people over.

Things You'll Need

  • Booze, how much depends on the length of the party.
  • Chairs or couches for people to sit on.
  • Plenty of food and beverages.
  • A stereo system, or DJ for music.
  • Absence of family.
