Handling fish leaves a less than pleasant smell on your hands. Whether you are fishing, gutting, cleaning the fish, or even enjoying a live lobster dinner, that fishy smell remains long after the fun is over. There are many options to remove that fishy smell off your hands. Choose whichever one easier for you.

Steps

  1. Try any of the following:
    • Cut a fresh lemon into wedges. After you are finished handling the fish, squeeze the lemon onto your hands, rub your hands together, and rinse with water.
    • Squeeze liquid hand-sanitizer onto your hands. Rub your hands together till dry.
    • Rub your hands with toothpaste, then rub together, and rinse under water.
    • Use a soap specifically made for removing fish odors, like De-Fishing Soap.
    • surgical spirit works well
  2. One Step Solution: Whether its raw fish smell or stink bait smell lingering on your fingers after fishing for catfish. Seriously, it takes just one wash with Head&Shoulders Intensive Treatment shampoo to get it out. Try it for yourself.
    • Rub some vinegar onto your hands. FYI, vinegar can get rid of bleach smell off your hands too in an instant!

Tips

  • You can use bottled lemon juice instead of fresh lemon.
  • When serving a lobster dinner at home, put some water in a desert dish, add lemon juice, and offer to each individual. Hand them a towel also, so they can dry their hands.
  • You do not need all of the below items used to remove the odor, only the one that is easier for you to find when needed.
