Ever wanted a huge hammer to smash stuff with? This hammer only requires that you can pay for it. Do it if you want to smash large objects into smaller ones.

Steps

  1. Collect all the materials, shown below.
  2. Set the bricks or the stone on the stick, like how it will be when it is done.
  3. A. With Bricks: Use a sharpie or remember where the holes of the brick are. Remove the brick and drill holes where the brick's holes were.
  4. B. With Stone: Use a sharpie and mark on the rock where the holes will go through the stick or log. Then mark holes to drill on the stick. Drill the holes on the rock and the stick.
  5. Fasten the weight(s) to the stick. You can use rope or fishing line, but it must be strong enough to support the weight of the stone or bricks. Use the holes to thread it through.
  6. Optional: use a knife to carve a handle into the stick.
  7. Test it. To carry it, hold it close to the weight at the top with one hand and at the bottom with the other. To smash stuff, lean it forward while sliding your top hand down, so that it is next to your bottom hand. Gravity will pull the weight to the ground, smashing things to pieces.
  8. Use it.You could use it to smash cans for recycling, killing big weeds, or making big fake footprints. All these examples can be done different ways, but they are more fun to do with a gravity hammer!

Tips

  • You can use a combination of fishing line and rope, that works well.
  • Don't hurt yourself with the drill ,or knife if you carve a handle.
  • Use a carbide-tipped ("masonry") drill bit to drill though rock. Steel bits intended for metal get dull very quickly in rock. A hammer drill, which pounds on the bit as it turns, helps a lot.

Warnings

  • You could hurt yourself with a drill or knife.
  • Do NOT hurt people or animals with this,

Things You'll Need

  • 3 bricks or a Heavy rock, more or less bricks depending on how much you can lift, if you use bricks.
  • Some strong rope or heavy fishing wire.
  • A large stick - has to be strong enough to support the bricks or weight.
  • An electric drill preferably an 18 volt cordless one.
  • Optional: A sharpie to mark drilling spots.
  • Optional: A knife to carve
