Did you ever get a package of those mini rubber bands for hairstyles and never know what else to do with them? Well, here's a fun and stylish use for them!

Simple Bracelet

  1. You'll need any old rubber bands, but colored ones look much better, and are so much cooler and awesome!
  2. Take one and fold it in half around a pencil.
  3. Take another one and string it through both of the ends sticking out of the first one and fold that one in half.
  4. Continue until it is long enough to go around your wrist
  5. Tie the ends together.
  6. You could tie the ends together with another rubber band, the ends of the first and last rubber band, or take yarn, string, thread, anything, and tie them together like that, too.

Fishtail Pattern

  1. Use two fingers as a loom, and set up your first band. Make a figure of 8 with your first rubber band and poke your index finger through one hole and your middle finger through the other.
  2. Place another two rubber bands on top. This time, don't twist them to make a figure 8. Instead, simply slide them over your fingers in an 0 shape.
  3. Bring the bottom rubber band over the top of the other two. Take one side of the bottom band and bring it up and over your finger, and then drop it so that it rests on top of the other two rubber bands, in between your fingers. Do the same with the other side.
  4. Add another rubber band. Place it on top of the last one, spread between your fingers. Make sure you do this after each step, so that there are always three rubber bands on your fingers.
  5. Again, bring the bottom band over the others. Pull one end up over your finger and drop it over the rubber bands in the middle, and repeat with the other side. Then add another rubber band to your fingers.
  6. Keep repeating this pattern. You will quickly see a fishtail pattern forming between your fingers; this will be your bracelet. Keep weaving the rubber bands until the bracelet is big enough to fit around your wrist.
  7. Finish your bracelet. Take the two bottom bands and pull them over so that you only have one around your fingers. Then slip the loose ends onto a C or S clip, and do the same with the loose end on the bottom of the bracelet.
  8. Experiment with different color and weaving patterns to create lots of different rubber band bracelets.

Tips

  • If you ever need to stop, put a pencil in the last loop you made.
  • Try to make them tight. The tighter the better! However, don't overdo it or it may break and cause possible injury (not to mention being disappointed at that wasted effort!)
  • You can use the same size ones used in braces and make your wrist(s) look extra chic, or use medium ones, or huge ones, or ones not quite as small as the brace rubber bands.
  • If you know about rainbow loom bracelets and how to make them, it's the same concept.
  • You don't need to use a pencil to make this, but it would be easier.
  • You can use also use your fingers; sometimes that can be easier than using a pencil.
  • Tighten it while it looks loose. This is very important because otherwise it would slip. It eventually gets smaller the longer you wear it.
  • Don't use your fingers, as it can cut off your blood flow and make you feel sick. look at tutorials on you tube on how to make them.

Warnings

  • Be careful to not let it snap on your arm.
