The fourth generation iPod Touch includes a camera for taking photos and video, as well as a functionality for taking screenshots. This article explains how to do each.

Taking photos

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Slide the lower right corner bar to the Camera icon. By default, the camera is set to the Photo mode.
  3. Tap the larger Camera icon (on the bottom tab) to take a picture. To view your photos, tap the small box in the lower left corner.

Recording videos

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Slide the lower right corner bar to the Video icon. The camera should then switch to the recording mode.
  3. Tap the Record icon (the small red dot on the bottom tab) to start recording video. When you're finished, tap it again to stop.

Taking a screenshot

  1. Turn on your iPod Touch. This can be done via the circular Home button on the bottom of the device, or the power switch on the top. If you have a passcode enabled, enter it.
  2. Open the app or webpage on Safari that you wish to take a screen capture of.
  3. Hold down the Home button and the power switch simultaneously for a second, and quickly let go.
  4. You will see a flash and hear a camera click, if the volume is audible on your iPod.
  5. Press the Photos app on the home screen. Your screen capture should be there in the iPod Touch gallery.

Tips

  • Do not hold the Power button for longer than three seconds when taking screenshots. This will prompt you to shut down, or power off, the device.
  • To sync your iPod Touch screenshots with iTunes, connect your device to a computer via the Apple USB cable and select "Sync iPod". From there you can save photos, copy into Photoshop, etc. If you use iCloud on your iPod, your photos should sync automatically.
