If you want to share your pictures through email or need to upload images to the Internet, it's crucial that you know how to downsize photos. Images produced by digital cameras are large and can't be uploaded easily in an email or to a website. To make a group of digital photos manageable for an end user, follow these steps to downsize photos.

Downsizing Photos in Adobe Photoshop

  1. Open the Photoshop program by clicking the icon on your desktop or selecting the program from the "Start" menu. When the program opens, click "File", then click "Open" in the dropdown dialog box, find the picture you want to downsize and click "Open".
  2. Find the "Image" button at the top of the Photoshop toolbar. Click it, and then click the "Image Size" button. A new dialog box will open.
  3. Uncheck the "Constrain Proportions" box if you do not want to keep aspect ratio of your image. Enter the desirable Width and Height and select "bicubic sharper" from the dropdown menu in the bottom of the dialog box. Click "OK".
  4. Your image is downsized. Go to File > Save as > Choose File Name and Format > Save.

  3. Save your images. Decide where you want to save your photos, whether it's your desktop, a specific folder or an email, and then click "OK".
