It happens to people. They try to go to a game site at work or school, only to find that it is blocked in their browser. Bypass the restriction with these simple steps.

Steps

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the top menu, choose "Tools".
  3. Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down list.
  4. Click on the "Security" tab.
  5. Click on "Restricted Sites".
  6. Find the site that you want unblocked.
  7. Highlight the site and click "Remove".
  8. Note: This method won't work if the "Internet Options" button locked.

Tips

  • If you're using a computer at a location that provides the DNS, IT admins can filter and log whatever they like. This is the most common corporate (and government) arrangement.
  • None of this works if the site was blocked from the router or gateway that makes the connection.
  • Savvy administrators and parents use a password to prevent users from making the changes described in this article.
  • Browser-based restrictions are just one of many ways to restrict access to certain sites or content.

Warnings

  • Efforts to remove restrictions and access blocked sites may be logged. Some school systems view this as vandalism and you could be suspended, expelled or arrested for your actions.
  • Just because you gain access to a restricted site does not mean you are in the clear. If the admins block and log Internet activity, they might log every bit and byte you send and receive and then punish you for circumventing their shabby security.
  • Administrators can restrict access to the "Security" tab.
