Do you keep getting killed in Call of Duty games? Want to grab those enemies and get amazing score streaks? Want to get 20+ kills on a team death match game? Then this is the article for you!

Using Equipment Properly

  1. Combat training is useful. You'll improve your skill at the game while learning the maps. If you're new to CoD, then it's recommended to start from here.
  2. Utilize everything at your disposal. This is especially important about equipment. If you average 1.00 K/D, an extra kill per death through claymores will put you at 2.00.
  3. Use the gun that suits you best. People might give you a hard time for it, but you'll have the advantage.
  4. Run UAV Jammer or UAV. Both of these kill streaks are underused, but can give you a massive advantage. It's recommended to use Jammer over UAV, because it will give you an advantage.
  5. Don't use red dot sights. Learning to use the iron sights can be a real pain, but it is most definitely worth it. Take an attachment like Dual Mag, Grip or Masterkey to really get the advantage. (Although using red dot can be useful if the weapon takes up quite a bit of screen space.)
  6. Sound is your friend. If you have a pair of gaming headphones, you'll realize what this means. You'll hear someone shooting at you and can react before they even hit you sometimes.
  7. Find your play style. Find out what you are good at. If you're quick on your feet it's recommended for a sub-machine gun class. If your more of a patient player, use an assault rifle or LMG. If you are good at camping, try to use bouncing bettys or claymores, and maybe a sniper rifle.

Using Agility and Fighting Skills

  1. Find a comfortable sensitivity. 2-3 sensitivity it gives you better accuracy than higher sensitivity, but if you get shot from a place other than in front of you, you might not be able to react in time. If you use a higher sensitivity, you will be able to turn faster, giving you an advantage, but your accuracy might go down as well.
  2. Don't sprint around corners. So many people do this without thinking. Take your time and go round the corner already aiming down sights. You'll gain a massive advantage. If in doubt, then chuck a flashbang or a concussion grenade.
  3. Practice aiming. Practice one on one with a person of similar skill level, or higher if you want. Practice against them in a large map. Switch between this and normal play every couple game sessions. You will get much better at aiming.
  4. Shoot down choppers. If your using Ghost Pro, you can really help out your team by taking out a chopper without much self-risk. Keep a class slot free just to take down all choppers.

Getting to Know the Maps

  1. Become familiar with the terrain. Knowing the different maps inside and out can really help if you're playing modes other than team deathmatch.
  2. Pay attention to spawning points. Knowing the maps can help you get kills by always knowing where the enemies are spawning.
  3. Use maps to your advantage in Hardpoint mode. Another example where map knowledge can help is the mode Hardpoint; knowing where the next hardpoint is allows you to rotate early and get the points, and get a jump on enemies trying to get in that might not know you're there.

Tips

  • Keep an eye on the radar.
  • Playing online with real players can be the best way to get better, because while you may think you are good against bots, players can be different.
  • Try not to stop firing at an enemy just because you've memorized the amount of hits it takes to kill someone. It can always change if you lag or have bad hit detection.
  • If you are caught reloading and you have enough ammo to kill the person, stop the animation by sprinting or switch to your secondary and back. If you are caught while reloading from an empty magazine, run away or around corners, and finish reloading, or switch to your secondary weapon.
  • Know the range of your gun, and only fire if you know the enemy is within it.
  • Playing with friends online allow better tactical communication, than it would with random players.
  • Don't run into the open while reloading.
  • If you see a claymore or a sentry, you might want to shoot it down. Use a machine gun.
  • Plant explosives on any paths that enemies can come from and flank you and your team.
  • What the NPCs say in the campaign training missions is true: switching to your pistol is faster than reloading. Do it if you know someone is nearby.
  • Drop shot. Go prone when an enemy player approaches you; it gives you an extra second to take them out. However, don't drop shot in front of a group of enemy players if possible.
  • Never throw back grenades. The game doesn't always let you, and it takes to much time. Just run away.
  • If you know where a person is and he's around a corner, try to jump as you come around the corner to throw off his aim, or just throw a lethal or tactical.
  • Don't reload after every kill. Its better to have half a clip than to be caught reloading because your victim had a teammate running behind him.
  • Try crouching if you know the enemies are listening, as it makes less noise.
  • Even if you aren't using a three-round-burst gun, try shoot a round or two if you're shooting for a far-away target. This will keep recoil low and conserve ammo.
  • Lure people. For example: If you know a player is following you, purposely walk in a circle and backtrack to them to shoot them. If they haven't killed you immediately, they're probably trying to get a melee kill.
  • When choosing perks, use the 'Steady Aim' perk if using a sub-machine gun or assault rifle. These tend to be the weapons to spray with, even with burst/semi-auto ones.
  • If you are using a sniper rifle, "hard-scope" if you need to, even though people may downgrade you for doing so.
  • Abuse Head-Glitches. Know the hot spots of each map, and when to avoid them if you're on a decent kill streak.
  • Stay in the dark (in buildings) so you have a lower chance of getting seen.
  • Learn to strafe when shooting, rather than standing still. It will make harder to hit.
  • If you are getting really mad, take a break, because the players can cause you to become more aggressive.
  • Try running and gunning (hence RnG, run and gun).
  • If you see a dot on your radar around a corner, ricochet a flashbang or stun grenade around the corner to catch them before you rush. Also be careful not to throw it too close to yourself or you might get killed. If you don't get a hit marker, proceed with caution.
  • Try to learn each map's spawn points. With practice you may be able to kill the enemy as they spawn.
  • The players on Domination, Demolition, Kill Confirmed, etc. are usually the ones who have played the game for a while and are trying hard to win and get kills, so you can try Team Deathmatch since the players are usually not that good.
  • When moving, use a zig-zag pattern. This is a very good way to throw off enemies when you are in the open.
  • When an enemy is right next to you, and strafing, try hip-firing.
  • Get used to quick scoping; it's easy once you do it a lot.
  • Get above the enemy, people don't look up. You can just shoot down on them. You should put a claymore on the stairs (or however you got up) so if they try to get revenge, they blow up.
  • Always stay in the shadows, so when an enemy comes by they won't see you, giving you an advantage to shoot them in the back, also reducing the enemy's time to turn around and shoot.
  • When you start, get a kill or follow someone that is good and pick up a weapon that someone drops.
  • Take your favorite gun and kill yourself with a grenade or C4. Then you have your favorite gun and 6 perks.
  • Try to aim down sights when entering areas of high "traffic" this helps a lot because if the enemy is not doing this as well, you will have the upper hand because you are already aiming down sights and ready to shoot.
  • Get scavenger to collect ammo so you don't run out.
  • Always look at the radar, and constantly keep moving. Having good aim, and getting used to a weapon is crucial. Just think of the bright side and how you want to do better do those things and before you know it you would've beat the whole game. Just try, try, and try again because practice makes permanent and perfect.
  • Do not place a claymore or a Bouncing Betty until you have checked to see if there is no one around you. If there is an enemy near you while placing a one, it can easily knife or shoot you while you are on your knees setting the claymore.

Warnings

  • Your hair may be messed up if you wear a headset for too long also.
  • Playing for too long in one sitting may be bad for your health.
