Sweet sixteen! It only happens once, so you should better make it count. Here are some tips to get you on your way to the best birthday party ever.

Steps

  1. Talk to your parents about the budget, ask them how much they are willing to invest in you birthday party. Keep in mind that the size of the budget doesn't necessarily make your party better, it all depends on the time you are wiling to spend in order to plan the party and make it happen.
  2. Ask around your school if they might know anyone else who is having a party the day you're planning to, so the parties won't conflict and people won't have to choose between the two of them.
  3. Find a popular place to have it. Rent a place where you know everyone is familiar with and loves. You could also have it at your own home to save money in order to spend more on decorations or on party favours for your guests.
  4. Choose a theme. Something like "Summer Fun", with items like beach chairs and sand, with sea stars- shaped balloons and beach balls.
  5. Good lighting, clean bathrooms, a memorable playlist, are all things that contribute to your party being a night to remember. Rent video games, table games and sound equipment to reduce the costs. You might want to consider hiring a professional to make sure your party keeps on going without anyone getting bored.
  6. Make special invitations that supports your theme. Keep it exclusive, you don't want your party to be crowded, only invite the people that you know and love. make sure to make lists before starting to plan the party, so you'd know how big of an event it is going to be. consider advising with a good friend of yours, a second opinion can be very helpful. Send out your invitations at least a month before the party.
  7. Make sure you have something that would keep your guests entertained: a dance off, a professional DJ, a show, a tournament of some sort, and mainly just good vibes.
  8. Food is a must. Be sure to have all of your favorite foods there, and mainly foods that match your theme. If you know of some sort of food that everyone loves, make sure to serve it at your party. Food is a good way to keep a party going if things start to calm down or get boring. Make sure you have a lot of healthy food for people who choose to eat healthier, for example- carrots, tons of apples and salads. Don't forget to serve water beside the sweetened drinks, you don't want anyone to get dehydrated at your party.
  9. Make sure your parents are part of the party, and agree with you about the decisions you make. A good step might be having a conversation with them before the party, getting them on the same page that you are on, covering subjects like where will they be during the party and how long it will last.

Tips

  • Make sure you have a really cool outfit. It's your party and you want to be the center of attention. Get something that will make you stand out. Let's say your party was club attire - maybe you would like to get a fancy dress so you'd stick out the most.
  • Arrange a photographer. Capture the lovely moments of your life. Although your guests will be snapping pictures, they won't be focusing you. Also, a specialist person is always better.
  • Get a really good DJ. Lights can make a huge difference. Make sure the DJ you get is not old and fat. Get someone who can give you a Sweet Sixteen MTV style party.
  • It doesn't have to be a huge party! Just have the people you care about!
  • If there is a problem with getting your guests to the party (ex. it's far away), rent a bus, coach bus or limo for your guests to travel in. Tell the bus to be at a certain place (ex. the local park) at a certain time and tell all the guests that need a ride to show up. Indicate this on the invitation.
  • Get an awesome band to come play like on my super sweet sixteen on MTV. These cost a lot though.

Warnings

  • Spend your money wisely, or else you'll be broke after the party. Instead of buying a cake, get a family member to bake one. Instead of buying all the food have a few people bring the food you plan to have. Make your invitations instead of buying them. By saving as much money as possible you can have a totally awesome Sweet 16 and also make your parents happy.
  • You will have people watching your every move, wanting you to mess up, this is what we call the haters, just don't pay them any mind (they're just jealous), let your haters be your motivators!, Smile, look cute, and embrace throwing the hottest b-day ever!
  • Be careful that you don't spill anything on your clothes. If you are worried, you can always take a spare top with you.
